The Azure Text Analytics API is part of the Azure Cognitive Services suite. As the name suggests it analyzes text and then expresses a sentiment in a scale of 0-1. Scores near 1 depict a positive emotion. Below is a screenshot of the output when the following sentence is given as Input “I had a wonderful experience! The rooms were wonderful and the staff was helpful.”
As you can see that is a positive sentence which shows in the results, 96% sentiment value.
Now consider the next case. The sentence is “This place is horrible!”.
This is obviously a negative and a critical opinion and that gives a 1% sentiment value.
